Over time, memory loses its chronology, mixes events together and replaces one recollection with another. Without material evidence, we begin to question not only the sequence of the past but also who owns it: did it actually happen to me or did it become part of other people’s stories?

Different tickets, receipts, maps and other documents kept since childhood serve as markers
in our own biographies rather than just repositories of memory.

The project draws on personal experience and Paul Ricoeur’s concept of narrative identity, according to which a person makes sense of their life through a narrative that connects fragmented events. In this artwork, an archive of material traces becomes the basis
for such a narrative.
